                                  PREVENTATIVE CARE

The most important step toward a long and happy life for your pet is preventative health care.  We recommend twice a year wellness examinations and wellness bloodwork;  annual vaccinations, annual heartworm testing  and  preventative; flea and tick control; and good dental hygiene.  Also, having  your pet spayed or neutered has positive health benefits in addition to helping control the number of unwanted homeless animals.

                                              Wellness Examinations and Bloodwork

Gradual onset of disease can often go unnoticed in seemingly healthy pets.  Once symptoms are apparent, the condition may be difficult and costly to treat and diagnose.  This is why a wellness examination with bloodwork is so important. This gives your veterinarian a baseline from which to measure future test results.  Call our office for an appointment!

                                                                                  Rabies

Rabies is not only a threat to our pets, it is also a human health concern.  Over the past few years, the number of reported rabies cases has been steadily increasing.  Michigan law states that all dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies.  Boosters are needed yearly or every three years, as directed by your veterinarian.

                                                                     Vaccinations

Vaccinations play an important role in preventive health care.  Many canine diseases such as disptemper, parvovirus, and leptospirosis; and feline diseases such as distemper and leukemia, can be prevented with vaccinations.  Your veterinarian can prescirbe the best vaccination protocol for your pet.

                                                                                            Heartworm Disease

Heartworm is a potentially deadly parasite transmitted to dogs and cats by mosquitoes.  Some people feel that if their pet stays mainly indoors, they are at lesser risk.  This is not true.  Mosquitoes can get into any home and it only takes one.  Treating heartworm disease is costly and is difficult for dogs, and unfortunately, there is no treatment for cats.  The good news is that preventing heartworm disease is simple.  We offer several different and safe once-a-month treatment options to protect your pet.  We recommend using heartworm prevention year-round.  This medication offers added protection against intestinal parasites, some of which are transmissible to humans.  Because we believe year-round protection is so important, we offer incentives such as rebates and special promotions, to help pet owners provide the best protection for their pets.  Don't be fooled by online or television advertising.  Call our office for details.

                                                                                                            Dentistry

Like people, animals also need professional teeth cleaning on a routine basis.  Dental disease can lead to infections, tooth loss, pain & discomfort, and cause many serious illnesses.  We offer professional dental cleanings and we carry preventive dental care products, such as pet toothpaste, toothbrushes,  and enzymatic dental chews to help keep your pet's teeth clean and healthy after a dental cleaning.  Call us for an appointment today!
